What do I get with PYRO?

Scene graph
Pyro has a powerful 2D engine based on the so called scene graph principle. The scene graph supports cameras, layers, sprites, shapes, tiles, dynamic lighting, shadow casting, fog and more! Simply create entities and let the scene graph take care of the render and update calls.
Collision system
PYRO comes with various functions to detect collisions. Bouding box, circle to circle, circle to rectangle, circle to line, line intersect and pixel perfect collision.
Tile system
PYRO has a built-in tile engine that supports orthogonal, isometric and isometric staggered tilemaps. Pyro can load tilemaps created with the Tiled map editor. For more information about Tiled visit

Skinnable GUI system
Pyros has built-in GUI system (label, image, button, input box and progress bar). More will be added over time. Dynamic lightning is also supported.

A particle system is built-in, wich allows you to create fun effects easily. Create explosions or constant streams of smoke and / or fire. A particle editor is also in the works!

Pyro is based on the awesome cross-platform Monkey X programming language. Monkey X can build for mobile phones, tablets, desktop computers and even videogame consoles. Monkey X saves you time and allows you to target your apps at multiple markets and app stores at once, potentially multiplying sales several times over.

How it works.

Monkey works by translating Monkey code to one of a different number of languages at compile time - including C++, C#, Java, Javascript and Actionscript. So your project will always run in native code for your device of choice.
